If you haven’t read Rose Tremain, run -don’t walk- to your closest bookstore or library. A dear friend put me on to this English writer and kindly shares Tremain’s latest books when she is in the UK and buys them before they come to the US. Best of all, Tremain’s novels are all very different from each other. Trespass takes place in the south of France and it is both a mystery and a novel about the emotional complexity of family. I couldn’t put this book down and I hated to have it end. As the Brits would say, “brilliant!”
Katharine, 1st I have to tell you how much I loved your book EAST HOPE…I’ve read it twice and shared with many friends…we are all looking forward to A SLENDER THREAD.
I recently read Diane Chamberlain’s THE LIES WE TOLD and was left breathless when I finished it…she is an absolute genius with storytelling and surprise endings. I then read PELICAN WATCH by Rose Senehi (written 2 years ago) and loved, loved, loved it!…just started Nancy Thayer’s new novel BEACHCOMBERS and its wonderful so far.
I LOVE your new website Katharine! (-O:
Thanks, Margo for your lovely comments. I’m so glad you enjoyed East Hope. Thanks also for the suggestions. I keep a running list “to read” and have added your titles into my notebook. This is shaping up to be a great summer for reading!
Katherine: Loved East Hope and Capturing Paris – can’t wait to reach your new book!
Anita, thank you so much!
Katharine, my friend Brenda just finished a book she highly recommended…it’s called THE MOUNTAIN BETWEEN US by Charles Martin…I think she is going to comment on your new blog about it…I’ve never read him before but she told me it’s a ‘must read’!!…you’re right, it is definitely a great summer for reading (-O:
Margo, I don’t know his work either. Thanks for this suggestion. I look forward to learning more.

I am going to look for the Charles Martin book right away. Thank you, Brenda!
I also liked Trespass an The Red Thread.
Folly Beach is a frame story using the setting of WWII and present day.It is one of the best books I have read this year and I read tons. I have favorite authors that I buy and many others I read from the library. Periodically, after my daughter finishes them, we donate to her library. You have become one of my favorites. I think I discovered you when visiting the West Coast last year or perhaps Margo found you. Either way, I am excited for your new book. I also noticed that some of the places where you are speaking are some of my favorite places. I spent a month in Mass studying Shakespeare and a week once for something education. On Hyannis Port. love Maine too
keep writing
Brenda, I told you about EAST HOPE last year…we both read it at the same time and LOVED IT!!
Katharine, I’m like Brenda…love the sea!…have always wanted to visit Maine and love the fact that you wrote about it in EAST HOPE. (-O:
